The Green Shoot

The green shoot
sprouts up through
a crack
in the unforgiving
concrete
 
tasting the breeze,
restless for growth,
yearning for solar comfort.
 
The little green frond
baffles the
grey, infertile
environment
 
spreading its green,
supple in the wind,
smiling in tenacity.
